Components Needed

This page we are going to put the list of components needed to build your computer.


Chassis –  a supporting frame over a structure exclusive on the body or housing.  it has the supporting harnesses which plug into your motherboard, for your sound, USB and etc.

Power Supply –  a power supply supplies power to an electrical device. It converts the power from AC (alternating current)  to DC (direct current),  which is what the computer requires. And it also regulates voltage to keep the computer from overheating. Now, these come in various Wattage, for instance, the 500w power supply would be enough to operate these two drives. Remember if you want to upgrade you might want to go to a 650w or 750w which should take care of anything you upgrade to.

Motherboard –  A motherboard is the main PCB (printed circuit board) of your computer. It is also known as a logic board. The motherboard is the central communications connection point, a through which all internal and external components are inserted. Motherboards are designed to intertwine with components, such as  AMD (Advance Micro Device) motherboard built for the ATX design for the Chassis as well as the AMD Processor and so on. This could go on and on, my point is certain the components must be compatible.

Processor – a processor is a logic circuit that responds to and processes the basic instructions that drive the computer. Most processors are multi-core for enhanced performance. The set-ups are separate processors but are installed into the same socket on the motherboard however they are faster. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) saves time instead of having to use data from RAM (Random Access Memory). Remember If you’re going to use the AMD Motherboard then you must use the AMD series processor.

Memory – a memory is the electronic holding place and data that microprocessor can reach quickly. Memory management physically stores data, like RAM (random access memory) chips, caches and SSDs (Solid-State Drives). In the OS (Operating System) memory management involves the allocation as well as the reallocation of memory blocks to individual programs that changes. When a program no longer needs the data those blocks are reassigned.

Hard Drive – a hard drive also know as HDD (hard disk drive) is a type of physical storage media that uses spinning disk non-sequential data in a computer. There are several types of HDD, the SATA (Serial ATA controller) hard drive controller handles the connectivity to the motherboard. As well as manages or directs the flow of data. The AHCI ( Advanced Host Controller Interface) uses the advanced features, like hot swapping on the SATA drives, which can produce higher speeds.

DVD Rom Drive – a DVD, CD drive can write content to the corresponding disk. CD-R (CD-Recordable) This disk can only record data, it can not erase or rewrite. The CD-RW (CD-Rewritable) disk can do all, record and rewrite. These two disks are the most common types of drives that can write CD’s once or rewrite all the data.

Video Card – a video card is a dedicated circuit board, provides 2D, 3D. The more up to date video graphics card are transformation features for the 3D applications are called GPU (graphics processing units) which can be integrated into the CPU itself. The PCI Express, PCIe, PCI-E  (Peripheral Component Interconnect) is a serial expansion bus standard connection on the motherboard are the most up to date.


Monitor – Keyboard – Mouse – and etc  Other Options – Printer –  Web Cam – Triplehead-2-go depends on the video card, this component lets you add monitors.

I have built these PC’s, however, I would like you to keep in mind if you ever want to upgrade at a later date. Then please make sure in purchasing your components so you can do so. If you notice I am a little parcel to AMD manufacturer, this parts list is built with room to expand without having to take a loss, if you do decide to upgrade. When ordering your processor be sure to think it over because this is one part that you will take a lost on. As I go through the process I will show you where the parts are that you will be able to and the one you will not.

    I built one of my computer a couple year ago. But technology these days get old really fast that it’s really hard to keep up with it. When I built it, I didn’t really pay attention the upgrading part, which later made me regret as it’s hard for me to upgrade any component except the RAM.
    I will definitely invest in a high-end motherboard if I want to rebuild another PC. All the other parts will be easier to upgrade compared to the mobo.

When I look at a computer and see how complex it is just so amazing with all of those small components. Your post is very informative and breaks down everything that is easy to follow. Also when I was working I was an manufacturing engineer and loved that as well. Doing all the customers drawings and writing programs from there cad data, which started our drawings for production. After I read your article you gave me the components that I need to build a custom pc. But I have a concern. I don’t have a lot of idea about this kind of stuff.       Hi there, thanks for stopping by! First of all, did you look at the rest of the website? If so, my step by step instructions is pretty clear. Now did you understand them, that should tell you whether or not you feel comfortable building your own computer. The main thing about building your own cpu, is you get what you want. Purchasing one pre-fab there are always something that’s not what you want. As far as ordering your components? Have you decided where you will be buying, and have you decided which series you would like? I prefer AMD, remember you have to match all the components to their series. Good luck and when you order your components they will help you too. As far as when to purchase your components, that would be once you have finished your research on which components you want.
