AMD CPU Motherboard Combo
When you build your own computer, the motherboard of the computer would determine the type of CPU that would be applicable or the CPU will be able to dictate the type of motherboard to be used. It is ideal to note that the ATX motherboard is capable of replacing the old AT motherboard for the fact that it is smaller, not complicated in working with and is capable of supporting the more I/O devices. The power supply to the motherboard is the P1 containing both the 20 and 24 power connections. The motherboard uses the mouse and the keyboard which are either ps/2 or the USB connections. The memory slot is the DIMMs together with the expansion slot consisting of AGP and PCI slots.
The motherboard further comprises the 2 IDE connections and at least a single SATA connections. The ATX motherboard is fitted with the soft power switch features that ensure a slow shutdown of the power (Kaplan and Howard, 44).
Both the BTX motherboards and ATX are compatible. The only existing difference is in the ability of the BTX to facilitate a smooth flow of air that assists in cooling the CPU. It is also fitted with the intake vent on the front of the case and exhaust at the back. The CPU together with the memory modules are fixed parallel with the flow of the air to prevent the blocking of cooling. The NLX motherboards are used in the low or personal computers and equally support the riser cards. The riser cards are plugged into the motherboard so that it supports
any additional expansion of the slots. The riser cards are equally known as the daughter board. The tracings of the copper at the back of the motherboard provide for the bus system that capable of connecting a broad range of the components and also making the power to flow into the computer. The motherboard consists of the 20 or 24 pin P1 connector, a 40 pin IDE connector, SATA connector, 34 pin floppy driver connector together with the 50 or 68 pin SCSI connector.
The most recent expansion slots consist of the PCIe, AGP, PCIx and PCI slots. The PCIe slots are the fastest and are capable of replacing the AGP slots. PCI are white in color and are identifiable by being longer in the motherboard. AGP slots are different in that they are shorter and brown. The PCI slots can be many. However, the recent computers can only support a single AGP or PCIe slots but not all of them (Sweldens, Wim, and Peter, 92).
